Ranch Events & Activities
“I endeavor to understand and use the
horse's mind and language to accomplish excellence in horse and
rider. Beyond just training
the horse to perform routine actions, my approach will result in
a confident, willing partnership between horse and rider. It is applicable
to novice and expert horseman alike and is based on trust and understanding
instead of fear, force and pain.”
-- Jerry Lee Sewell
Beginning to Winning Clinic Series, Saturday, January 29, 2005
This is the resumption of the series we started at Walnut Creek
called "Beginning to Winning," a riding clinic for up
to ten riders. Clinic starts at 10 a.m. and goes to 3 p.m.
For those who want to overnight Friday, there's plenty of room
for trailers, no charge, but water and pens only, $5 for a
stall. Charge is $35 to ride, $10 to audit,
light lunch and drinks included. I will cover the one-rein
system, de-spooking, and a little "cowboy dressage."
Watch this page for listings of other upcoming clinics and events. |

Jerry Lee is an exceptionally gifted teacher, communicator,
horse trainer, and competitor — always ready with a smile, a joke
or some needed encouragement. His experience as a rancher, horse
trainer, wrangler, military officer, businessman, clinician and breeder
make him the type person who is both always learning from and always
teaching those around him. He’s started hundreds of horses
while working on large ranches out west. Everyone from the novice
to the expert rider can learn something from him. Jerry Lee is fluent
in several languages, and is able to teach in French, Spanish, Chinese,
and Vietnamese, if necessary.
Catherine Norman, Jerry Lee’s partner, is a retired RN whose
kind and gentle nature and experience with horses, make her a special
asset to the ranch. Catherine has ridden and owned horses for many
years, and has served as a TETRA assistant director. Both are active
members of Lone Star Equine Rescue, TETRA
(Texas Equestrian Trail Riders Association), and Central Texas Riding Club.
